As a patient of Akad Orthodontics, your health and safety are of utmost importance to us!
In addition to following all of the provincial infection control requirements (Ministry of Health, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Ontario Dental Association), our practice has implemented additional measures to go above and beyond in order to ensure that we maximize the health and safety of our patients and staff. Patients will notice our new protocols, such as:
*Staff wearing additional personal protective equipment.
* High-level sterilization and cleaning between each patient appointment.
*Increased frequency with which we clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces including doorknobs, surfaces, and barriers.
*Objects that are difficult to disinfect such as magazines, brochures, and video games have been removed from our waiting room.
*Our washroom facilities and toothbrush stations are closed (please plan accordingly).
*We have added air purification systems in the treatment rooms.
Pre-Screening Patients
All patients (and parents) entering the office are required to fill in 3 forms. The forms are accessible on our website at akadorthodontics.com under the FORMS heading on your desktop OR on your cellphone under the MENU and then under FORMS.
The first form ‘Appointment Confirmation Screening’ MUST be completed 1-2 days before your appointment. The deadline to complete the form is 7 p.m. the evening before your appointment.
The second form ‘Day of Appointment Screening’ MUST be completed 2 hours before your appointment.
The third form ‘One Time Only Consent Form’ is to be completed one time per patient, prior to your appointment.
Entering Our Office
ALL patients (and parents) are REQUIRED to wear their own mask while in the office. In addition, to limit the number of individuals in our office at one time, and to comply with physical distancing guidelines, we require individuals accompanying a patient to wait outside the practice unless absolutely required.
Upon initial entry to the office, patients, parents, and visitors MUST perform hand hygiene with the Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizer provided.
Entering the Treatment Area
Before being permitted entry into the treatment area for your scheduled appointment, a staff member will take and record your temperature with a non-contact thermometer. If your temperature reading is within the normal range and your screening questionnaires are negative, you will be directed to your assigned treatment chair. Depending on the procedure you may be required to rinse with a hydrogen peroxide rinse for 60 seconds prior to examination, as this may help decrease oral pathogens.
Exiting The Treatment Area
Once your procedure has been completed you will again be required to wear your own mask to exit the treatment area. You will be asked to perform hand hygiene with the alcohol based hand sanitizer upon exiting the office.
Please note, to minimize the number of people in the same space, we will contact a parent to meet the patient at the door and to schedule the following appointment.
